I am so grateful to have done a special engagement with University of Tennessee’s Clarence Brown Theatre in a production of Million Dollar Quartet a few years ago. Getting to know the very creative staff and students, I couldn’t be more supportive of the magic they make.
I also love that Clarence Brown hosted the very first workshop of my new musical when it was getting started back in 2020. They were so supportive.
So it goes without saying, I was excited to be a part of this special night’s celebration.
The Clarence Brown Theatre celebrated its 50th anniversary with a night they called A Gala To Remember. A list of notable alumni and theatre professionals all shared stories of how this acclaimed theatre program has made such an impact in the lives of so many.
I sang for about thirty minutes or so. I also got to give Dale Dickey a hug – a long-time LA acquaintance I haven’t seen in a while. She grew up in East Tennessee and has worked with Clarence Brown Theatre a few times.
Couple pics below. Me and Jason. Dale. And me performing.
I’m such a weirdo. Jason and I were set at a dinner table during the gala. Now, the two things I simply suck at doing when having to stay in “performance mode” is eating and being social. My sincerest apologies to my table mates who saw an anti-social thumb picking at his food, avoiding talking over crowds to “save his voice”, and lost in thought over the next series of chords and lyrics I have to remember. LOL.
Some great people are associated with this theatre. And grateful I’m getting to know them a bit.
Happy Anniversary CBT!
