I loved this show because I got to do more original compositions than I often get to do with my Broadway concerts. Side note, now that I am a #musicaltheatrewriter, I will naturally be doing original compositions and finally within the context that people get excited about. Yes, I have fallen in love with script writing. It is such an organic addition to my story songs. It also appeals to me as an actor creating roles that inspire and challenge me. I secretly tell myself that I will be writing my own stories, scores and starring roles for the next twenty years. Nothing would make me happier.

I decided to share two songs that afternoon from my new musical. Deliver Me and Proud. It was the third city I’ve shared those songs and every time, the response lights a fire under my ass to keep pushing this piece forward.

My bookers were just a dream. I love working with/for genuine people. Patrick and his husband saw my Broadway concert at Saugatuck Center for the Arts and invited me to perform at Park Church in Grand Rapids. Park Church reminds me of what churches should actually be. Aggressively inclusive. Active in community outreach. And responsible for the folks in the neighborhood. Remember when community needs were met by the local church? Instead of stating the obvious that most churches are no more than an exclusive club for like minded individuals, I will celebrate Park Church and assert that there are churches in the United States that surprisingly do have the right goals.

No footage from the show – and I did walk into soundcheck that day like a heavy duty video blogger, but it’s awkward for those around me sometimes. LOL. Jason did get some footage of the three songs I sang at the Sunday morning service though!
