I had this itch to do a music video for what I thought was one of the stand out songs on Where I Belong.
In this video, I share with you my inspiration and concepts for the video as well as conversations with my video director. What I didn’t expect was the amount of people who would discover my music once this video was online and Sons of Anarchy fans were looking for that song they heard in the background of a scene.
True, it was the background. It did not cause a huge swell of new fans like my nearly 2 minute feature on the season 2 finale of The Vampire Diaries, but it did help a little indie album along nicely.
On December 2009, a month before I was moving to New York City to start rehearsals for Broadway’s Million Dollar Quartet, I got a call from my then manager Rich Overton. He said that someone from FX had heard the song – maybe from a friend of mine – and wanted to use it in the background of the show. Those little moments make all the difference in the world for an indie artist.
