The Chosen One

Former teen gospel star Levi Kreis reinvents himself as a soulful singer/songwriter – by Ken Knox

I remember this vividly. This was the first time I realized that interviewers often do not recall information correctly. I was personally devastated to see him mistake Vanderbilt University and my pre-college scholarship program for what was actually Belmont. I took it personally not wanting to say anything negative about Vandy. Vandy was not a southern baptist college – there never would have been a reason for this to be true. So I felt really embarrassed.

Over the years, I’ve seen many editors publish incorrect information about me. You stop taking your life so seriously when you realize few care to get it right. LOL.

One of my favorite things about living in Los Angeles was Frontiers Magazine. It was the one thing you needed to have to know what was going on in the gay world. I flipped when they featured me. I miss gay rags, gay bars, gaybourhoods – one of the major sacrifices we have made for the convenience of apps. Aren’t you glad we know what it was like before we had the world in the palm of our hand?
